METAL SEALING RINGS FOR A LONGER LIFETIME

WHY MANY PARTS ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS THEIR SEALING DESIGNS
Every steering and suspension component plays a role in vehicle performance and safety — but a part is only as good as its sealing design. Without a secure, long-lasting seal, dirt, moisture, and debris can infiltrate the joint, leading to premature wear, corrosion, and costly failures.
That’s why MOOG engineers Steering & Suspension parts that solve real-world problems for installers.
Sealing rings matter
In every ball joint, tie rod end, stabilizer link, and control arm, you’ll find a dust boot—an essential barrier that keeps grease in and contaminants out. But what holds the dust boot in place? That's the job of sealing rings, and not all sealing rings are created equal.

While it might seem silly to worry about the quality of these rings, there are a number of differences represented in today’s aftermarket parts – and these differences matter. A dust boot is attached to the socket housing and ball stud. MOOG uses upper and lower sealing rings to keep the dust boot in place. Remember that sealing rings are under a lot of stress due to a socket’s constant articulation. When these rings lose their clamping force, dirt, moisture and other debris can make their way into the joint, thereby accelerating wear and causing corrosion.
MOOG'S METAL SEALING RINGS
MOOG understands that the reliability of any part with a socket depends on the strength of its dust boot seal. That’s why MOOG sealing rings are precisely engineered and manufactured to deliver a tight, long-lasting seal in all operating conditions. Even under extreme suspension movement, these advanced sealing rings help protect MOOG parts from water, dirt, and contaminants—ensuring durability and performance. And to back this commitment, MOOG offers an industry-leading five-year warranty, giving you confidence in every installation.
