CATAPHORESIS COATING FOR MAXIMUM CORROSION RESISTANCE

RUST? NOT ON OUR WATCH
Every installer knows that corrosion is the silent killer of suspension parts. A part may fit perfectly today, but if it can’t withstand the test of time — harsh weather, road salt, moisture—its quality is compromised. That’s why MOOG goes beyond the standard to deliver maximum corrosion resistance by applying cataphoresis coating.
COATING: THE SCIENCE
OF QUALITY PARTS
MOOG utilizes cataphoresis coating, the same advanced protection required by vehicle manufacturers for exterior ferrous automotive components. Unlike traditional spray-paint coatings used by many aftermarket brands, this scientifically engineered process provides superior corrosion resistance and exceptional durability. Each MOOG part — whether a sheet metal wishbone, control arm, axial rod, or tie rod end — is fully submerged in an electrically charged paint bath, ensuring the coating reaches every surface, inside and out, for complete protection. The parts are then baked at high temperatures, creating a strong, uniform bond that enhances longevity and resistance to wear.

Many aftermarket manufacturers forgo this process due to the high investment costs, instead relying on electrostatic spray-painting, which offers incomplete coverage and weaker adhesion. Inferior coatings tend to chip, flake, and rust over time, compromising part integrity. By applying the same high-standard cataphoresis coating used by OEMs, MOOG ensures that its Steering & Suspension components withstand the toughest conditions, maintaining their strength, reliability, and resistance to corrosion far beyond industry standards.

Cataphoresis coating - properly applied
Perfect adhesion of the coating thanks to submerging and baking. Protected from corrosion from the outside and inside.

ELECTROSTATIC PAINT - SPRAYED
The peeling of the sprayed paint will cause corrosion and the part is not protected from the inside.

MOOG INVESTS IN QUALITY
While many aftermarket suppliers cut corners on coatings due to high costs, MOOG doesn’t compromise. That’s why our control arms, axial rods, tie rod ends, and wishbones are coated with cataphoresis protection.
