Improvements to Ball Joints for Ram/Ford Trucks

Ongoing Enhancements

As the chassis industry’s Problem Solver, MOOG® never stops striving to improve its steering and suspension parts. MOOG engineers are always looking for opportunities to improve existing products. This relentless pursuit of improvement can be seen in the enhancements made in the K80026 ball joint for Ram and Ford trucks.

Permanent Grease Fitting

Designed to deliver reliable performance, MOOG ball joints feature several problem-solving innovations that ensure long-lasting dependability and fast, hassle-free installation. A key feature of the K80026 ball joint is a greaseable socket that reduces corrosion and wear by allowing new lubricant to flush out contaminants.

In the old design, greasing the ball joint required the use of a grease fitting that needed to be inserted and removed every time the part was serviced.

MOOG engineers recognized that using a grease fitting and having to replace it with a plug each time the ball joint was greased was a hassle. They dug into the issue and came up with a design that utilized a permanent grease fitting.

The permanent grease fitting makes servicing the ball joint much easier – technicians will appreciate not having to find the grease fitting and dealing with an easy-to-misplace plug.

MOLYKOTE® Coating

For vehicles with a solid front axle, having the steering wheel return to center after making a turn can be an issue. MOOG has added a MOLYKOTE coating to the stud of K80026 and K8607 ball joints. The coating allows the ball joint to seat in place quicker which aids in smoother steering. Proper installation can also aid in restoring proper steering wheel return – get step-by-step instructions for installing these ball joints.
