PATENTED DESIGN: NEW LOWER BALL JOINTS

STOP REPLACING THE WHOLE KNUCLE

Lower ball joints for specific car models such as Citroën C5 from 2008 to 2017 and Peugeot 407 from 2004 to 2011 require precision installation — get it wrong, and the bearing is compromised, leading to premature failure. To avoid that risk, many installers are forced to replace the entire steering knuckle assembly, increasing costs and repair time.

MOOG’s innovative patented design eliminates the need for a full knuckle replacement. Engineered for easy installation and superior durability, this next-generation ball joint features:

Dual-Tube Design – Simplifies installation and eliminates the risk of metal-on-metal damage.
Triple-Lip Sealing Boot – Blocks out moisture, dirt, and contaminants for a longer-lasting joint.
Non-Metallic Bearing – Reduces wear, ensuring smooth, reliable performance.
Premium Corrosion-Resistant Coating – Built to withstand tough road conditions.
Pre-Greased for Longevity – Reducing friction and wear for a quieter, smoother drive.

NEW DESIGN SOLVES PART DURABILITY AND REPAIR ISSUES

Conventional ball joints for Citroën and Peugeot models utilize an all-metal roller-bearing design that can be easily damaged during installation, leading many service providers to install a complete knuckle assembly pre-fitted with the replacement ball joint. This more expensive approach is no longer necessary thanks to the MOOG ball joint’s unique design, which includes inner and outer tubes that greatly simplify installation. Additionally, the new ball joint’s highly durable, non-metallic bearing eliminates concerns of metal-on-metal damage to rollers and cages during installation.

“Our patented dual-tube design helps the installer quickly and easily achieve a precise fit for optimal bearing performance and durability,” said Robbie De Moor, product management director, EMEA. “Now, service providers can offer vehicle owners a high-quality yet less expensive repair solution for these older models, resulting in a more satisfied and loyal customer.”

Inadequate sealing protection is another leading cause of premature failure of many conventional ball joints for these models. MOOG product engineers have developed a new sealing boot design that effectively locks out moisture, dirt and other contaminants from bearing surfaces to help ensure smooth performance and extended service life.

MOOG’s patented problem solving design ensures a perfect fit, function and maximum durability and makes a full knuckle replacement unnecessary.
